Sandeep’s CAS Journey

My extra-curricular activities at OSC

Track Progress 19/1/2024

The Majority of the track season is now practically over. We began training in November 2023 and are prepared to leave for

Chennai in February for SAISA. So far, I’ve really enjoyed training; on a more personal

Note, I believe track is a discipline that allows me to take some time off from the rest of the world haha!. When I say this, I mean that track is something I genuinely enjoy doing, and not

simply because I’m good at it. When I run around the track after school, I sort of enter a zone and a set frame of mind in which nearly all external distractions are forgotten.

I don’t think many people can relate to my love of this sport. However, I would like to put it into words. It sounds strange to say it aloud, but Track has always felt like a second home to me in a very special sense.

It was, and still is, a place and community where I feel heard and valued. The friends I’ve made along the way, are people I hope to treasure for a long time. In other ways track has always given me a go

al to work towards and something that kept me occupied. This honestly has really helped me to get through some tough times and days, because I always had a specific goal in my mind to try to achieve during track season.

Reminiscing  on it now, I do remember that my goal for the previous season was to try and help my senior relay team to win both the baton relays that we were taking part in. Almost a year ago today I was in the relay team for the 4×100 meter and the 4×400 meter relay, and I’m proud to say that this year I’m once again in both of those relays. I was happy to be able to contribute to both SAISA relay wins last year, but my ambitions and goals for this track season are a little bit more individual based.

My goal is to try and win the 200 meter relay and go for gold, try my best to get a podium in the 100 meter dash, and to come second in the 400 meter race. The reason that it is like this is purely just based on my current timings. My seed time for the 200 meter is currently the second fastest in SAISA, and for that reason I feel like I have a very good chance in winning that race, as long as I continue to train as hard as I possibly can and dedicate everything towards making that happen!. The 100 meter race is another event that I am very good at, however it is also a race that has close to zero room for error, and typically is very hard to win. However I hold the second fastest time in my track team for the 100, and I would be more than happy to finish on the podium for OSC.
