Tennis practise – 24/10/2023

After school I went to a tennis practice session with my coach after school. This workout was really tiring and difficult for me because it was a very hot and humid day. This makes it a little more difficult to play for long periods of time without interfering with my game or practice time with water breaks. Today’s session focused mainly on game play in terms of preparing myself for an upcoming match.  Local competitions tend to be structured on three set matches of six games each. I got used to playing these games from a young age. One thing I realized was that playing through the entire game requires a lot of effort and endurance.  This is because some games can go on for a few hours if your opponent is really good. One thing that can really swing the game back into your playing field and court is by having enough endurance to survive the full game. Most of the other kids I grew up playing against all had the same weakness of not having enough endurance to last, and that was often how I used to win most of my games. Something that I have started doing recently was to use the gym for a little after tennis practice and I have started to focus on cooldown exercises mainly. I also try my best to get in the sauna post session. The sauna is a very beneficial tool for athletes especially after a good workout, this is because of the health benefits such as the heat produced which causes blood vessels to dilate which promotes increased blood flow to muscles. This is good for helping your muscles relax and release tension after a workout.
