My CAS Goals

“A WINNER IS A DREAMER WHO NEVER GIVES UP” – Nelson Mandela

This first post is about the goals that I want to achieve throughout the two years

of my DP adventure.  The goals are divided into three sections. Creativity, Activity and Service. These goals will not only improve my skills and become a better individual but also become a model student and be the best I can be.

Creativity

  1. Through involving myself in DP Art, I would develop my art skills further throughout the 2-year span. I hope that I learn ways in how I would be able to express different perspectives and concepts to the targetted audience by using art. I already do plenty of sketching and art at home but with the IB, I would like to take improving my art further as a personal challenge.
  2. I am also involved with the “Senior Voice” (the senior choir) and this would mean that I would love to continue it till I graduate and hope to make memories with this group. Being in this choir is fun but a challenging experience as I aim to improve my vocal technique and harmonization every time we meet.

Activity

When it comes to sport, I am highly involved in a sport that is offered by the school every season.

  1. Last year I captained the SAISA football team as I lead the team to a solid improvement compared to the year before that. For the last two years of school, my goal would be to continue the improvement we have made and to potentially be a championship team.
  2. I plan to continue playing SAISA volleyball throughout my DP years as I aim to continue to be the team’s anchor as a libero. My goal is to be more consistent in my passing and master the technique of diving. I hope to win something within these 2 years with the team as we have a solid all-round team.
  3. I am considering to try out for the SAISA Basketball team, I hope to improve my skills further as I’ve already trained and worked on my skills during the summer. This would mean that I would attempt to be the team’s point guard.

Service

  1. I am in a student-led organization called “Housing and Habitat” which is affiliated with the Janoda Foundation in Hambantota and organize builds with them. In order to fundraise we have two main fundraisers as of now which is the making of Home RUN! as our primary fundraiser and then conducting bake sales over the course of the school year. My goal for this is to effectively help plan the events made by our service group and to be more productive and efficient when building the tools for the school by at least creating 25 tables and also raising enough money from Home Run (5k run). We work during the second service semester for each year to teach the primary pre-schoolers about the varying needs of affordable safe housing needs within Sri Lanka through the creation of teaching plans.
