Qingjie's CAS Journey

Duke of Edinburgh Practice journal 2019-2020

For DofE, Any young person can do it – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.

This post is about my first DofE practice journey.

Journey

Day 1

On the first day we reached the top of the mountain. It was very cold. we took ourself suitcase, go through a long way. After arriving at the camp, we rested for a while and set out for the mountain. But because I was not feeling well,( I felt a serious  headache)so I rested in the camp for the afternoon.

Day 2

The next day, we started to climb the mountain. The mountain was very foggy, My goal is to record all the characteristics of the flowers I saw on the way, such as color, size, shape. However, there were many stones on the road, it was very difficult to walk, and then it began to rain. Fortunately, I brought an umbrella. Unfortunately I lost my umbrella. We can’t stay in one place for too long, because the leech will quickly climb to our legs. There was heavy rain on the way back. I felt very tired. At that time, my legs were heavy. I gradually walked to the end of the team. I didn’t want to delay my team’s progress. I didn’t want to see them waiting for me in the rain Rain. I told them not to wait for me, but my two teammates, Emily and Shironi, they still stand in the rain and waited for me. Actually,I had planned to give up before, but because of their waiting and team spirit, I regained confidence and became more firm. I felt my body suddenly full of strength.

At that day, it was raining, it was cold, but my heart was warm.Of course, my guide is always with me, which makes me feel safe. This journey gave me a different experience, and I have very good memories. Here, I want to thank everyone who was patient and with me. Thank you!!!

This is the photo, which was taken by Mr. Lockwood before we went up the mountain on the first day.
