The service has existed for even when I was in primary, however its purpose has changed throughout the last few years. For example a couple of years ago this services primary goal was to interact with the kids at the Cancer Hospital but since the start of the pandemic (which was when I joined) the visits haven’t been possible and we switched to a more advocacy based service group. Therefore we felt that this year we needed to update what our service description and after consulting our service advisors this is what we came up with:

We support the children and their families at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital. Some of the activities we conduct include public awareness campaigns, food ration drives, the OSC community cricket game and the collection of educational resources. Visits to the hospital have not been possible in the last 2 years due to the pandemic. However we are hopeful that they can recommence soon.
