Personal Fitness Journey with Ben

When it comes to activity I have been continuously playing basketball, whilst having at least one basketball session with Coach Praneeth and Ben.  Though after achieving my goal that was in relation to my jump shot in basketball I came to the realisation that Basketball was keeping me in shape and not necessarily improving it in the way I wanted it to. Basketball would work on my cardio and sometimes strength depending on the intensity of the session. After talking with Ben we both thought that would should take some initiative and work more outside of Basketball to improve our strength and fitness. By doing this we knew that our strength would improve and help us succeed within our individual sports.

After doing some research we figured that it would be best if we made a schedule for the different training that we would do depending on the specific part that we wanted to focus on at that time. We decided that we would do three sessions of training at Ben’s home gym. The first session/day would be Chest and Shoulders, these are normally the two body parts that you train together. The second session/day would be Back and Arms and the third session/day was Leg day. Throughout all 3 of these days we would be working on core after finishing every session as core plays a big part for basketball and jumping in general.  (LO3)

Before doing our first session we had to measure our maximums so that we could track our improvement over the months that we would be going through the personal fitness journey. We decided that we would track our progress until the end of this school year and then either recreate this routine individually or as a group depending on where we are (if we are both in Sri Lanka then we will work together, if we are in different countries then we will continue over summer individually).
