Gecko Net Semester 1 Recap

Over the course of the first semester of Gecko Net there was a lot of logistical matter that needed to be handled. Gecko Net is a service that thrives when we are face to face as there is ways to create content for the school and people who need content to be made for their services or project in general. Though over DLP there was not really a demand or desire for Gecko Net’s services and thus we were met with a problem. As a group we brainstormed what would be possible to do and could be executed well as to produce something that can be informational for the school whilst also conveying how people are feeling during the DLP. The first and main idea that we came up with for the first semester was to create a documentary/interview series that would give people some insight on how students and teachers were feeling during DLP.

My job for this Gecko Net project was to get videos from the class of  2026 or 7th grade to use within the video.  We had to get a person from the grade assigned to us to answer questions and record themselves answering them. The questions that were asked to the students were:

Would you rather be in face to face?

How do you feel about DLP?

What’s life like now?

Did you expect to be in DLP again?

Do you feel that DLP is a smart alternative?

How has this changed your opinion on education?

What’s your routine like? Do you spend more time with friends and family?

After gathering my video my job for the documentary was over in general as I did not have much else to do. I attempted to get more videos/interviews from the students for MYP 2 but I did not get any responses apart from the video shown above.  This is understandable as they are young and might be shy to record or answer questions in a interview that would be shown to others around school. Overall I think I was successful in achieving my goal that was given me to from the Gecko Net.
