ISTA 2019-2020: The best one

ISTA TaPS 2019. Wow, what event. This year the ISTA TaPS theater workshop trips were in Malaysia hosted by the International School of Kuala Lumpur. We left on the 18th of September to Kuala Lumpur. we depart from Sri Lanka at around 12:30 and adorrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 5:30. Before i went my heart that this might be my last trip i do as a highschooler due to my priorities as a senior

When we arrived in KL, we were immideitaly exhausted from the jorunery, but we i knew that i had to make teh msot of tis trip. so we started of the day by just relaxing in our rooms, i was rooming with on of my freinds virath. However because i we were so close to all other people on this trip, everyone just waited in our room. Afterwords, at around 11:30am we decided to head to the mall, where i met up with some of my oldest freinds. With them we spent the day at the mall.

After that we all headed back, freshend up and went for dinner, and the headed of to bed. The next day was the first day of the workshops. we arrived at ISKL at 8:00am and started the ice breaker workshops with the  entire particpants of the ISTA TaPS. Afterwords we broke into our ensambles and ensambles leaders. To my great excitement, I was paired with one of my bestfreinds Seth. having Seth in the same ensamble as me really helped get comfortable with the entire ensamble which helped me connect with th entire ensamble.

When it comes to the ensamble i was in and what topics we did, i felt was the best expericne i have had. firstly the ensmable i was placed was, in one word, awsome. everyone their was so friendly and nice, except Seth. i really got close to this ensamble than perviously metioned enslambles last year, and i still talk to so of my peers from the ensambles. In term of the learning i experinces are enslamble leader Ms. Nita really went into to depth of the different assements we had coming up, for the Ib theater courses.

Ms. Nita gave us an indepth look into the Jaques Lecoqs seven levels of tension. we learned about how to incooperate the diffrent levels of tension into our theaterical pieces. However, for me perosnaly the biggest take away from my workshops, was how to build atmosphere. Ms.Nita did a activity in which she gaves us a stimulus and 5 or 6 of us would have to go into a space we created with group and perfrom one sound and action. The first stimulus she gave us was a temple, so in response i did the sounds of water droplets, and the movement i did was of dancer in the wind in order to create the allusion of the temple. To me this was eye  opening as i was looked at atmoshpere through emotion, this workshop helped me understand the more litteral sense of how to create atmosphere.

these workshops were so helpful that incooperated into my DP theater class and incooperated elements of my learning into the creation of the CTP also known as the Collabrative Theater Project. ISTA this year was nothing eles but amazing, the freinds i made, the people i met and the experince i gained is unparallel. My only regert is not doing them earlier.
