AISD Radio Show

In 2018 AISD started a new club called the Radio Show. It was a new idea that hadn’t been done before and it was new for everyone. The Radioshow was originally intended to be a radio station hosted by the students of AISD. However due to a lack of resources, we decided to have a youtube channel where we play music, the hosts talk about the events happening in school and around the world. We started small, after our first video was posted we had 7 subscribers (the members of the group). However slowly the group grew bigger, we had access to more equipment to produce better podcasts and soon after a year, the group grew to 20 members.

Our first broadcast (29 February 2019)

Every Tuesday the group come together to discuss the current news and then we would split up. The journalists would talk about the news and the editors and film crew would set up the background for the two hosts to be filmed on. It was often very busy but we all had fun. My job was an in-school journalist. This job required me to go around the school asking teachers, students, and staff different questions and interviewing them. I also had to contact the offices and note down any reminders they had for students.

New equipment is used to produce broadcasts (23rd January 2020)

In January, we decided to change the entire format of the radio show. We decided instead of being more of a talk show or podcast we would be more of a news show. We would show more clips about the events in school. There would also be less music playing. This way people from outside AISD or old members of the community could still see what was happening in school.  We worked on the script and developed a new template for the show. The first edition of the new Radio show was posted on the 6th of February.

As of now, the Radio Show continues this format and it had been very successful. The Radioshow is also hosting Dhakachella soon, as a fundraiser to buy new equipment.

I had a lot of fun being a part of the AISD radio show. Being a part of a group that had grown so much of the past year really showed me the importance of perseverance and loyalty. The AISD Radioshow continues to make broadcasts on their youtube channel.
