Maelle’s CAS Journey

My extra-curricular activities at OSC

Gecko Inc. Ongoing Project

Yesterday, October 27th, we had service like all other Thursdays, but on our own. By that I mean that our supervisor, Mr. Van Zijl, hadn’t been able to come. As a member of this service for one year, new members asked me questions and I shared a small issue we encountered last year: when the kids became more and more comfortable and confident in the water and with us, it started to be difficult to teach them. We thought about it and we came up with the idea to give them a small snack as a “reward” for having worked well at the end of the session. To be able to provide the kids with snacks, we decided to raise funds by selling stickers and bracelets. As a leader of the group, I led the members present on that day to have a concise and realisable project to achieve our goal. We defined the themes of the stickers: we chose swimming because of the link to our service Gecko Inc., and then the upcoming SAISA Girls Football tournament happening at OSC. I defined the rank of ages for this sale: I proposed to sell bracelets to primary schools and stickers for everyone. And finally we put in common our ideas for the price as a group. Here are some ideas of the stickers:
