IB Orientation trip
Every year, the Overseas School of Colombo organise a team-buiding adventure. This year, finally, it’s our turn! We went to Kitulgala for 3 days to learn more about our classmate, break boundaries and build links and friendships. Organized by the Borderland crew, we did different types of fun activities in Kelani River such as the Marvel Canyon, rafting, hiking and exploring the historical Belilena Cave. Before doing these canyons, I had already done several in France and Corsica before moving to Sri Lanka. So doing these canyons was not very challenging for me but rather very exciting so I didn’t really developed my physical skills in this area, but being comfortable in this type of environement allowed me to work on and develop my collaboration skills with others.
I really enjoyed this 3 days trip, the atmosphere was good and pleasant. I really liked when everyone jumped from the giant 10 meters rock, thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and support, even those most reluctant to take the plunge from a height of 10 metres overcame the challenge and jumped. During the trip I acquired a knowledge that I found really interesting: how to undertsand and read the river current.
Overall I think that it was a very agreeable and successfull experience with the whole grade. I learned a lot of things concerning myself and my classmates, mainly on working collaboratively with others, which is a skill that will be very useful in the future.
