After last years Track and Field season I decided I wished to continue my training so as to be better prepared for the competitions this year. Concretely, I aim to bring my 1500m time to sub 5min before this years competition and my 800m to 2:15 or below during the competition. I also wish to improve my 3000m and 400m times substantially so as to try and compete in one (or both) of these events at SAISA.
To this end I spent the months up until summer break training with a personal trainer so as to improve my ability. Then, during summer break, my coach passed away suddenly so I stopped running as much for a few months.
For the last few weeks I have once again resumed my running training to prepare for OSC’s upcoming track and field season. In this time I have started my athletics training on my own as well as with some of my friends and their coach (coach Chaminda), thus giving me ample time to improve my event times by the time of the SAISA and TISSL inter-school competitions. During the coached sessions we tended to run a combination of sprint sets; longer, slower runs; and workouts. Additionally, I have been doing workouts on my own and with some friends so as to prepare for track and field, working out at home as well as at the gym.
