Unity in Diversity Day

Over the past few weeks I have attended the first meetings with the MUN group on Mondays after school. During that time we have been busy choosing the theme and planning lessons for OSCs Unity in Diversity day.

After some discussion and shortlisting, we decided the theme to be SDG 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Following this decision, groups were made, each responsible for planning a lesson for a designated age group (PYPs, MYP 1-3, MYP 4-5, and DP2). During this time, Luka collaborated with the other DP members of MUN to plan the UiD day lesson for the MYP 1-3s and DP 2s.

I was allocated to creating the DP2 lesson plan, where I suggested and helped develop the idea of a proper Model UN debate on current issues that are relevant to SDG 16, debating on what quantifies a strong institution.

Once UiD day finally rolled around, Dimath and I were tasked with running the lesson for MYP 2.2s, following the lesson plan/slides created by MUN students. During the lesson we introduced the students to what an SDG is, what the focus of SDG 16 is and what the UN has achieved with regards to SDG 16. We did this through a slideshow presentation, kahoot quizzes, short videos and lastly, a creative task where the students formed groups, each of which designed their own “strong institution”.
