Luka’s CAS Goals

Throughout my CAS journey, I hope to continue doing a number of extracurricular activities I’ve started in prior years (eg. basketball, athletics, art, service, etc), as well as start new ones which I hope will challenge me in a variety of ways.

Firstly, I wish to prioritise my creativity over the next two years, giving myself the space and tools necessary to express myself creatively as well as develop new skills. To this end, I wish to continue doing visual art with OSC’s art club, experimenting with a variety of media and artistic techniques. This will help me express myself in a way that I usually cannot, as well as teach me new skills when working with different artistic media. [an art set?]Additionally, I wish to express my creativity within leadership roles this year. I hope to employ my creative thinking more, bringing ideas to groups such as OSC’s Room to Read service as well as COMUN, both of which I engage with as a student leader.

As well as creative expression, I wish to continue in my physical activity and thus improving my mind, body and sports skills. I plan to do this by training athletics with a private coach, in preparation for OSC’s track and field season where I hope to make the OSC team and competing in the SAISA and TISSL interschool competitions. By the time of these competitions I would also like to see some personal improvements in my PBs. I would like to bring my 1500m time to sub 5min in preseason and my 800m to 2:15 or below during competition. Lastly, I aim to improve my 3000m and 400m times to try and compete in one (or both) of these events at SAISA.  [basketball]

Other than working only on myself (developing creativity and participating in physical activities), I aim to also actively participate in service activities, thus helping others in need. I will do this through OSC’s Room to Read service group. As a service leader I will plan English lessons and teach them to local school children from Vidyaloka school, as well as help run/organize events in order to raise money for the construction of their schools library.
