CAS Project- Kites in Solidarity

For my CAS project, I took part in organising a kite flight in solidarity with the people of gaza, on International Women’s Day as part of an initiative by Kites in Solidarity. I organised it with some friends and it was held at Galle Face Green on March 10th, 2024.

The weekend before, me and my mom visited the location and found a local kite seller who could pre-make us kites in the colors of green white and red (colors of the Palestinian flag).

That week at school, I hung posters to inform the OSC community of the event, and it ended up getting also posted to community Facebook pages around Colombo. On the day of the event, we had quite a good turnout of people from both OSC, as well as from all over Colombo, including families from other international schools, and even the Palestinian ambassador and deputy ambassador and their families, which was amazing.

Overall, it was amazing to see such support in showing solidarity with Gaza at this event, and also simultaneously educating and informing people as well.
