SAISA Track 2024- Comeback Year
This past week I was away in Chennai, India, for the 2024 SAISA track and field competition. This was my last ever SAISA, after many years of doing track, so I was both excited and saddened by this. My events were the same as last year: 800m, 1500m, 3000m, long jump and high jump. I was quite happy with my results, winning gold in long jump, silver in high jump, bronze in the 800m, and placing in the 3000m and 1500m. The team this year was quite young, with mostly 10-14 year olds, and very fewer seniors, with out 15+ girls age group only having 3 out of 5 girls. Despite this, even though we went into the competition not feeling our most confident, everyone on the team performed amazingly, and put their full effort into scoring points for the team, putting us in 1st place overall! A great way to end my last SAISA.
One of my favorite parts about SAISA is the relays, the 4x400m and the 4×100 relay, this year we ran our 4x400m relay with a 10-12 girl Maya, which was a really fun experience.
Overall this year, I was quite happy with my performance, and I was especially happy to have had a partner to run with (Serian), as last year I was the only distance runner in the age group.
