Cancer Awareness Walk/Run (editing)

Today I joined over 800 people in the center of Colombo for the first of what will hopefully be many, cancer awareness walks. Today being the national cancer survivor day, Indira cancer trust organised the “Walk for Gold” event against pediatric cancer- gold symbolising standing with cancer patients and survivors. Arriving at the Indepence square (where the walk took place) was truly an eye opening experience, to witness and stand with hundreds of others who came together to support such a good cause, and help so many in need. The walk was a really powerful experience, to see the streets filled with people dressed in all shades of yellow and gold, and walking and fighting against the same cause. Once it was over, I decided I also wanted to participate in the 5k run for cancer event, and Im so glad I did so. To walk with others supporting the same cause was powerfull, but to run with others supporting the same cause was a touching and overwhelming experience that I will never forget. I hope next year I can return to this same event, and keep supporting the victims of Pediatric Cancer.
