Service Leader??

DP1 has brought a lot of surprises to me. Not having PE, wearing masks in school, but probably one of the biggest surprises was being appointed Service Leader by Ms. Lockwood for OSC’s room to read along side my friend and classmate Zoe. When I joined OSC a little over a year ago, I would never have thought to have me be appointed as service leader. Honestly speaking, my leadership skills are mediocre at best. So far for the first few service sessions i’ve tried to observe what characteristics are expressed throughout the service both by Ms. Lockwood and Zoe since they have not only been in this service for longer, but also been at OSC for much longer, so they would have a better idea of what to do. I think with this new position as service leader, I feel almost as if I have discovered something that I wasn’t necessarily looking for when I joined OSC. It is a great opportunity and I am very grateful to have such a position but at the same I realize that I need to take this seriously and not think that it’s just something I can just gloss over. In the end, I hope to make my parents, Zoe, Ms. Lockwood and the members of the RTR service group proud to me, Liam as one of their leaders.

Not Being A Couch Potato During Quarantine

There are many set backs when you’re locked up in your house for weeks, sometimes even months at a time. One thing that proved most challenging to me was being on my feet. Not necessarily being active and working out, but more so just moving around and not sitting in one place for extended periods of time. One thing that I did not want to repeat during this second lockdown was be a couch potato like I was during the previous lockdown from March 14th to May 26th 2o20. So to minimize the chances of this happening, I try to get up and walk around and find every excuse I can to not be stuck on the couch doing nothing. So the day before lockdown I bought a new set of Drum Sticks as my current pair is on its last legs. Drumming has been my primary source of moving around during lockdown as it requires all 4 of my limbs to be doing 4 different things at the same time and exercises my mind. I also do other miscellaneous tasks like cleaning my room, washing my dad’s car (Judge me, i’m a car nut), to the odd push ups challenge with my dad from time to time. And finally, I’ve set a goal to walk a minimum of  6,000 steps per day and I will be keeping track of this figure with my phone and watch. Once lockdown is lifted, hope to set that minimum number even higher than 6,000.

Liam’s CAS Goals

What do I want to achieve throughout my CAS journey? There are certain things in my life both in and outside of school that I want to further enhance and develop myself but I never had the motivation to do so and I want to use CAS as a good reason to do so.

My overall goals consist of (Lockdown) – Being able to play a really difficult song on the drums, Go to the gym more often, and be more helpful around the house.

My goals outside of lockdown consist of – Get a 42 seconds or under time at the go-karting track, Be the service leader in my service, and make either the volleyball or basketball team.
