Bird Watching with Kids – 22 October 2020

With the quarantine leaving most of us to stay in our homes, it has been a troubling time for many parents to deal with all the energy built up by the children. This was why my sister and I proposed a small activity for the kids at the Eden Gardens community to go around the compound and just spend some time outside of their houses. As expected most parents were happy to have the kids taken off of their hands and let them release all of their energy.

Our activity started at 3:00 in the evening, the sun was high in the sky, and my sister and I were getting ready for our event. We brought some binoculars and a few bird books to allow the kids to id any birds they see. At around 3:40 all of the kids had arrived with there beingĀ  6 kids in total. We spent the next hour and a half playing and exploring the gardens around the area, with there also being a picnic at the end. Although the kids were not entirely interested in looking for animals, we spent a lot of time doing just outdoor activities. This was a great experience for both me and the kids as it helps improve my skills with younger generations and also allowed the kids to meet with friends and have a big get together.

So although it was not as big of a success in teaching the kids about the animals around us, it was a great way just to help release stress and may help promote me and my sister with helping out around the compound.
