Recycling and sustainability is a service in which our goal is to reduce the ecological footprint of the school. We do this by gathering every Thursday and going around the school and collecting recyclable paper at school. The recyclable paper we collect is then brought over to the person who buys the paper off us for money. The recycling and sustainability service not only a service where we go around and collect paper but also a service where we try to spread awareness about recycling and how to help to save the environment.

Normal service day-

In a normal service day, we normally start by us all meeting up in Mr. Lockwood’s room, where we then split up into groups so we can do the different blocks in our school. we then normally go down to the recycling room( room down by the canteen in the car park area) and get materials to help collect the recycling. we then split into our groups and go collect the paper. When all the paper collection is done we all meet up back at the recycling room. where we either help load the truck that takes the recycling paper and cardboard to the Recycling plant or we put the collected paper and cardboard into the recycling room. There are also day’s where instead of doing collection, we put all the collected paper in the recycling room into the truck and we take it to the recycling place where we get paid depending on the Weight of paper or cardboard collected.

Bio Gas Plant-

we have also made a Small Bio-Gas plant at school where we collect the waste food from our school canteen as a power source for the Biogas Plant. The waste food is emptied into a chamber with water where it is left to create gas and then is redirected to a stove which can be used as desired.
