Karven's CAS Journey

Sunday Badminton

Our return to school this year was a quite jarring experience. After almost 2 months in our distance learning program and a further 2 months over summer break, coming back to school was a welcome change to my life. However, it was not without its challenges. For starters, the fact that the SAISA season was canceled was very upsetting. The SAISA program has been a huge part of my life since the 6th grade and I was looking forward to one last year of competition. Despite this, I feel that it is still necessary to stay engaged with sports to maintain my fitness.

One of my CAS goals to address this was playing badminton with some of my friends on Sunday to maintain our athleticism. A few weeks ago Takuro, Rizqi, Rashmi, and I got together to play for 2 hours from w10am to 12.

Despite having not played for some time, it didn’t take us long to get into the rhythm of the match and after a brief 15-minute warm-up, it was like we had never stopped playing.

One thing I did notice was that I didn’t have as much endurance whilst playing as I used to. It is something I hope to work on for the next time we meet. (CAS learning outcome 1)

Hopefully, if the Covid Cases in Colombo begin to decrease again we will be able to start playing again soon.
