Home Run poster for H&H

For service, Housing and Habitat, we have a famous tradition and activity that we do every year which includes the entire OSC community; Home Run. Home Run is a fundraiser that gives anyone the opportunity to take part and to either run, walk, and or bike 5-kilometers.  The goal of this fundraiser is to try to make as much money as possible so that we as a service group may spend it on materials and tools to build anything in our power for less fortunate schools. For example, this year we currently in the process of partnering with a local school near to OSC which are already in contacts with Room to Read. Therefore, our aim for this home run is to get some money from participants so that may build furnitures or anything for the local school. We also see home run as an opportunity to have some fun and to create some unity between the OSC community as we will all be running the 5 km together.

In order to promote the Home Run, we have to create a poster to share with the school. On a Sunday, March 20, I and a couple of service members got on a Zoom call to work on the poster and to finalize it. One of the group members had created 3 different posters, and we voted which one we would use to share in the daily bulletin. From there, we created some adjustments in terms of the format and colours. On top of that, as a group, we created a 5 km route that would be used in the Home run. With the help of Google Maps we were able to make a route. While making the route, we had to find roads that were spacious and that did not have too much traffic. As well as that, it took us a while to find a 5 km route that was fluid, simple, and pleasant as some people got lost in the past. When we had completed the route, we created a QR code to paste on the poster so that people would have access to the route on Google Maps. Now that we have completed and posted the Home Run poster on the daily bulletin, we now as a service group have to prepare ourselves and get organized for the upcoming date of Home Run.
