Quarantine Sketches

Images of some of my doodles from last weekend

Since my sibling tested positive from Covid, my family and I have back in quarantine, giving me a lot of time to myself and to get invested in some hobbies. I think my favourite activity to engage in is to draw random faces, figures and outfits in my art books. Some of the elements I have been focusing on include composition, line and value.

Art and drawing used to be a really stressful thing for me; I thought every line had to be perfect and every face had to be symmetrical, but I was inspired by several artist’s work, such as Tim Burton and Hunter Schafer, and their unique styles of Gesture and One Line drawings, whilst still staying true to my own style. I enjoy sketching random little people with a fine line pen, instead of working on large art projects, which I already do in my art class, so its more therapeutic and less stressful than creating a planned piece.

A positive outcome of doing these drawings, is that it has entertained me for hours on end instead of spending the day on my phone which I am prone to doing in these times of quarantine. As well as building my drawing skills and getting my creative mind flowing, another outcome to this is that a lot of the ideas I get for my DP Art projects actually evolve from random sketches like these I have previously done. This means I can create better art in school after practicing and getting inspired by the art I do in my free time.
