This years Breast Cancer Awareness Day was held on on the 26th of September. As we had done in the previous year, the Hope for Kids service group had sent out an email requesting for all school member to come dressed in pink in support of those going through breast cancer. Breast Cancer month, observed annually in the month of October, is a dedicated day for raising awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and supporting those affected by the disease. The day emphasizes the importance of regular screenings, self-examinations, and understanding risk factors, while encouraging fundraising. Activities often include educational events, survivor support gatherings, and symbolic acts like wearing pink to show solidarity with those battling breast cancer and to honor lives lost. This year, we collaborated with the Indira Cancer trust to provide a presentation on the importance of identifying breast and early detection, and some basic information that should be known about the issue. The presentation was held in the SMPR and was open to all members of the OSC community. This was a very successful event and helped foster a deeper understanding of breast cancer’s impact within our community. Attendees were engaged and asked thoughtful questions that showed a genuine interest in supporting those affected by the disease. The collaboration with the Indira Cancer Trust provided invaluable insights into helping bridge awareness with actionable knowledge. Overall, this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Day was a meaningful event that reinforced our commitment to advocacy, education, and solidarity!
