Home Run 2021 Planning

The Housing & Habitat service group has benefited greatly from the return to school campus, as we can now have more productive sessions in a face to face environment. It also allows us to begin planning for our annual Home Run which we hope we can squeeze into the final few weeks of school. This event will be about a 5km run around the school neighbourhood that will raise money for our service group. This money will go towards a certain project that is still being decided on, but will likely be related to housing or helping local schools as we have done in the past. We have had great success with this event in the past and are hoping to be able to hold the event this year as well.

Our first in-school meeting of the year last week was very productive and we were able to come up with a plan for the rest of the school year which of course, focused on the home run. We assigned small tasks and jobs to different people regarding the planning of the home run and were able to begin these tasks during the session. Myself and a few others will measure the route before next session so that it isn’t longer than 5km (this was an issue last year). Some others will work on the advertising and create posters to be put around the school and online. Additionally, the remaining people will work on the logistics and send off emails about what days this event could be held on and if it is even possible considering the COVID rules and regulations. We have a clear plan in mind and will be working hard to host the H&H Home Run 2021.
