Basketball Training

Throughout the last few weeks, I have started to do proper basketball training again. I didn’t train during winter break and became less fit but am now getting back to how I was during SAISA last year. I’ve been able to train individually and occasionally with my coach and a few of my teammates from school. Not only am I training to pick up my level of fitness, but I am also training my skills for basketball such as shooting, dribbling, and defending. I have been following a workout plan that I made which is a combination of strength, skills, and conditioning training.

The first week after winter break was a tough one because I was unfit and had to take more breaks and exercise for less time. I was able to complete the skills drills I prepared but had to stop after a few conditioning drills and had to reduce the repetitions slightly. The next week I was able to see progress in terms of my fitness and continued to complete drills to benefit my basketball skills. The 3rd week I was able to train with my coach using multiple bits of equipment that helped me due to the variety of drills that we were able to practice. I am still training right now and am approaching the physical state that I was in during SAISA last year and continue to develop my basketball skills. My planning has been successful so far and I look forward to continuing this form of activity throughout the coming weeks.
