Home Run 2020

Home Run is housing and habitats largest fundraiser to help buy the equipment that we need. Home Run is a annual 5 km that our school community participates in. The event is also a great opportunity for all of the SAISA athletes to get some more fitness before the start of the competition and to give them an additional boost their coaches made it compulsory to participate. Similarly to last year we collaborated with Care For Paws so people were able to bring their run with their dogs and give them a few treats at the end of the run.

We had all had to meet at school at 5:00 am to set up the course and we each had to bring oranges and paper cups for the runners. After we set aside our materials we then got into the truck and went around the track placing signs and setting up tables with water. Rizqi and Liam were out on bikes to make sure that no runners got lost and following behind them was a truck to help assist any problems. We all had to keep in contact with one another so that we were able to effectively prep the water for the runners this is a good example of the collaboration that went on during the Home Run in addition Nehe, who was in the truck had to keep in constant communication when the first runner and last runners were coming to each of our stalls. We also had communicate with him once each of the stalls were finished so that he could come and pick up the tables and the water.

The Home Run was a huge success and we managed to get 120 people involved in the event. Our goals for next year are to continue to have a positive turn out and maybe have even more participants. Possible improvements for next year is to have more effective signs to make sure that no one gets confused with the direction or gets lost. The Home Run turned out better than we could have hoped for and we are only going to aim higher for next year.
