For these past few weeks, me and the Gecko gear team have begun designing and planning for future upcoming merchandise (dedicated for both SAISA and overall OSC merch) and possible collaborations with other brands (also possible sponsors) for the next school year. We wanted to develop new designs for season 1 sports to get an early start in order to avoid rushing when we reach final deadlines. This would also allow us to spend more time planning and designing both season 2-3 sports’ jerseys to make more sales in order to support “Kids On Campus” as well as the OSC community spirit. I started creating different drafts and a small portfolio for next year’s Girl’s Volleyball team hoodies. I plan on asking for feedback to see what I can adjust to try to fit everyone’s ideal likings and what they would like to see on the jerseys/hoodies.

Some strengths I noticed over the past few weeks and months were that I started becoming more vocal about my ideas and experimenting more with the designs online. I put myself out more to communicate with my peers about their likings and concerns when it comes to the jersey kits and hoodies. Another highlight was research, I wanted to experiment with different design apps and websites to try the various tools in order to see what is best and what visually works well. Some improvements that I can make are to take one design at a time and avoid cluttering/changing directions. In a few cases, I noticed that when i’m excited about creating a new design, I have so many ideas and I have the habit of focusing on more than one idea at a time. This multitasking causes me to lose focus and lose productivity. A way to overcome this would be to make a to do list or journal list where I write down all my ideas, but, I take one concept and focus on that one only. Once i’m finished, I can move on to the next one and so forth.

In the following designs below, I created a navy blue concept and two grey concepts (each having the same elements but in various colour patterns):
