Offline Friday📵

IBeWell Friday is a day designated for the teachers and students at OSC to have the opportunity to take time off screen and practice a hobby or anything that is related to Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). It is a much needed experience for all of us at this moment. Relaxation and taking time off screen is a great practice since school currently is running online and we spend an enormous time facing the screen. Especially, for the DP2 students, this is much needed in order to relieve the stress we gain from all the overwhelming amount of work and meeting deadlines.

During one of the Fridays allocated for the above purpose, I engaged in cooking a homemade pizza which I truly enjoyed. It was such a fun experience since I have always loved cooking and I have always pizza delicious. This time, I chose to bake a veg pizza with mushrooms, black and green olives and tomato along with mozzarella sprinkled all over it. My sister and I had a great time preparing dinner for our family. The pizza turned out extremely well and my whole family loved it. The comments from my family motivated me to do bake another time not only pizza but other dishes as well.

This is the pizza I was preparing.

After I flew to Dubai from Colombo, we had the last IBeWell Friday for the year. One of the activities I engaged in during this day was cycling. The weather at that time was very favorable for a ride outside as it was cold. The temperature was around 19 degrees Celsius. Usually, my cousins and I make the most of this experience by hanging out during evening rides. After a long ride, we got ourselves some treats from the supermarket and we decided to set up a little picnic in one corner of the compound facing Burj Khalifa. After we got back home, we ordered DIY (Do it Yourself) shawarma boxes and we grilled the chicken outside in our backyard. Each one of us prepared their own shawarma sandwiches which was a very refreshing experience and the shawarma also came out really well.

On the next couple of days, I decided to buy some canvases and paint something without having a prior plan. My mind was free and I had the freedom to choose anything to paint about. I decided to keep it abstract using few shades of blue which is one of my favorite colors. I was scrolling through Pinterest looking for a source of inspiration to paint of. This was when I came across a beautiful painting of a lady in a hat that looked very attractive.
