IMPACT: ONLINE SEMINAR 2020

Initially, my plans for this summer included traveling to Washington D.C and attending a summer program at Georgetown with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Business. However, that clearly didn’t end up happening, and I then had to think of other ways to still continue to learn throughout the summer. This is when I decided to join one of Summer Discovery’s (the program which I applied for my summer course) online seminars, titled: COVID-19’s Impact on the Sports and Entertainment Industries: Engagement in a Virtual World.

This seminar was held by Felisa Israel, (founder, and CEO of 10 Fold Entertainment and instructor at Anderson School of Management at UCLA), and Nathan Leonard (Head of programming, IMPACT Internship, and Producer at 10 Fold Entertainment). As observable above, both of them have a strong background in the entertainment industry as well as the entrepreneurial side of companies. In the seminar, they discussed the impact of COVID-19 in industries such as cinemas, adventure parks, and other entertainment-based areas. They also mentioned what companies were doing in response to the virus and examples of what multiple of them were planning to do in order to move forward and continue providing their customers in the comfort of their homes.

I found this meeting very interesting as it gave me an insight into the business side of COVID-19 as opposed to my own perspective of it and how it affects my life. Even though it wasn’t the same as attending my summer camp, with these circumstances at hand I feel as though it comes pretty close.
