A Futsal and Running Combo

Recently the ways I have been attempting to tick the boxes of activity and keeping myself moving is through my football endeavours as well as my new running adventures. Recently the TAFA coaches wanted to start playing futsal among ourselves and inviting a couple of older students along with us. We started playing last week and we do it on a Wednesday from 7 pm – 8 pm and it’s very intense.

Texts messages about who is joining the sessions.

The first week we played we did 3 teams of four and 5minute game rotations. I played goalie for most of the rounds until I copped a nice one in the face by one of the old TAFA students rendering me too scared to play in goal as a result of the possibility that I might lose a tooth. I played in defence for the rest of the game along with same who was on my team playing attack.

My Fitbit stats for the futsal session.

This week when we decided to play Sam and Chloe couldn’t join in fear of the cyclone so there was about 12 of us. We decided to do a coaches Vs. Students game and luckily I got put on the coaches side. It was Thaabit (Head of TAFA), Bilal (Rugby coach), Aaron ( Another TAFA intern), and Henry (One of the TAFA coaches). We did a rotation play, I began with playing up at striker and managed to somehow score a goal, then I moved into mid, defence, goal and back into defence. It was a nice rotation to try and experience every position. I found a new love for playing defence and strike as I got to run around and have more time with the ball as I usually play goalie in TAFA training. The game last night ended in penalties and I was shooting against Musa and got a nice one on the right side of the goals just missing the sidebar. Overall it was a really fun experience and I hope to continue playing in the future and developing my football skills in various other positions.

Stats from my run from this morning.

Now moving onto my new need for running, as the last couple of months became more overwhelming I felt as though I needed an outlet. AN activity that could make me feel less stressed and a time for me to not concentrate on school. Last year when school was still ‘normal’ I used to run on Japanese road in the mornings. I decided to try and do this at home too. I have started waking up around 6:15 am and getting out of the house by 6:45 am and run 3-5 km 5 days a week. I have been doing this for the past 3 weeks now and it has severely helped me with my stress levels. It has allowed me to focus my energy on something else other than school and reduce my stress levels in a productive way.

My stats for the past 4 days of activity.
