Friday 13th March – Monday 1st June
My exercise regime has changed drastically. I have gone from high-intensity SAISA training to being in a confined space and attempting to make the most of it exercise-wise. Its been a struggle but its also all about perseverance. In an attempt to not grow exponentially bigger due to all my lockdown snacking I have come up with a routine to keep me as active as possible.
I usually do my workout in the afternoon because attempting to wake up early before school to workout is out of the question. At the beginning of lockdown, I was still attempting to figure out what I could possibly do. I started off with watching youtube videos and trying to find ways of getting cardio into my regime. I then moved onto the Nike training app which has a variation of workouts and can either target particular muscle groups or allows you to do a variation of exercises. I used this app for the first couple of weeks of quarantine until I exhausted all of the workouts and I wanted a change.
I then moved onto watching youtube videos and doing follow along with exercise videos. I started off with watching this girl who was a former dancer and now exercise influencer, her youtube name is ‘madfit’ and she has an array of different videos. She goes from hardcore ab and full-body workouts to stretching and yoga flows. There are also apartment-friendly workouts which have less jumping so your downstairs neighbours can get a little bit of peace and quiet.
The Chloe Ting challenge is another fitness regime that I have attempted. She has a website which allows you to choose different challenges that you can do and every day you have a new combination of exercises. This was a really good system for me because it gave me some structure to my workouts and I really needed it. I didn’t get bored because of the different types of exercising that I got to do every day. I showed skills of commitment and perseverance when it came to this workout style because you would want to try and finish the challenge and not miss out on any of the days.
Lastly, I have been doing a large amount of running over the past couple of months. I started small with running around ou apartment block 4 times which was 3K and I then challenged myself to work towards running non-stop for 30min. I am still making my way towards it, slowly but surely. I was running every other day until I started getting a sore knee because of the hard concrete and I transitioned into running every other day.
