Eleez’s Service: Book Week

My service, Room to Read has been doing a lot these past few weeks in preparation for book week. We recently held a book drive where people donated books we plan on giving to the school we’re helping, The Bapajaya Vidyaloka Maha Vidyalaya School. Some weeks ago we organised some of the donations we had received and organised them into set groups: primary, secondary, and adult. These books were then boxed appropriately, some of the boxes were sent to the school. The rest of the books we were to see in our upcoming book sale which would take place two weeks after.

Last week we spent the service session designing posters to promote book week and our special Books N’ Cookies where we had some teachers from our community talk about some of their favourite books and work that they’ve done. It was during these sessions that e had sold books, we managed to raise Rs.12,130 from the sale. The book talks were really successful, lots of students and teachers ended up coming to listen, we really appreciated their coming. Tomorrow’ll be our last book talk with Mr. Harp.
