SAISA Volleyball 2022, we did it, we won it, and we the champs.
This year, I made the difficult decision to choose between SAISA Swimming and SAISA Volleyball. Swimming; is a sport that I have known and enjoyed for many years, but recently a new sport took its place, on my personal sports rankings. In the end, I chose volleyball, which personally I think turned out to be a brilliant choice. At the start of the season, I knew our team had potential, but I was not sure they fully understood their potential. I had this goal to win SAISA volleyball since the start of 2022, and after seeing the potential in the team for this year’s tournament I knew that I wanted to make our team’s goal to win it all. As the season progressed, we kept on getting better and better, and our confidence grew and grew. We played lots of practice games and built lots of chemistry leaving us with the confidence we needed to go into the tournament. Day 1 had arrived and spirits were high, the geckos we strong through their first games in the tournament, leaving us as feared competitors. We fought our way through day 2, winning both of our games again. This leads us to finals day. We were tired, and beat, but motivated as we had not come this far to lose the championship. As we breezed through the semi-finals, we made it, it was time to win. The final game of SAISA, 5 sets, first to 3, we knew what we had to do and we did it. It was challenging, but performed as we should have, and kept our cool and confidence to bring it home for the Geckos. This was an amazing experience, we had worked so hard and finally, we had gotten what we worked so hard for. My emotions were all over the place, with excitement, and triumph, after completing a goal that I had wanted to complete for so long. (i cried 😉 )
