SAISA Concession Stand

After a long match in the sweltering hot sun of Sri Lanka, football players only want one thing… refreshments. That is exactly what the SGA provided for the Girls SAISA Football players on the 10th of February. These star players could quench their thirst with the popular gatorade, lemon-lime nectar juice, or the Sri Lankan staple: king coconut.

Starting the day with a bit of confusion, trying to find where the snacks were being kept, I managed to straighten everything out by messaging other SGA members. Soon the coconuts arrived and I placed some in the freezer (the fridge wasn’t keeping anything cold), to cool them down to satisfy the thirst of the players even more. At times we were having trouble with change but ensured that they all received the correct amount back either by setting it aside or running after them to give them their change.

I spent my first shift setting up the food and organizing the space to make it more welcoming, as well as pricing the food. I took over the shift of the next person as they were sick but ended up floating around the stall to help out when the girls weren’t playing. We brought down the prices as the day went on and their money ran dry but eventually donated the rest of the food to the girls before the final games so we can wrap up.

We had a great success raising over 48,000 LKR for SGA events such as the OSCars (prom) and the Middle School Dance.
