Homerun

Back in 2018 Care for Paws did their first collaboration with Homerun, at the time I was a new student and an eighth grader and I remember riding in the back of the truck and meeting people’s dogs. Then in ninth grade we collaborated again and I remember working one of the water stations with some of the Housing and Habitat kids. So this year when we got the offer to work with them again we were excited, and we were even offered a 20% cut of the profits. This year as a service leader the experience was a little different as I was much more involved in the planning process however even that was fun since I was working with my 11th grade peers in H&H. They figured out the route but I helped map out the water stops and direction stops as well as assign people to them.

On the day of the run I ended up being at school at 6:30 which was a little rough but once things started going everything was going well. We went out in the van with Lucca in the truck in front of us and periodically dropped everyone at their stops. Granted there was a little mix up but things got sorted out and eventually Zoe and I ended up at our stop which was near the end of the run.

Since we were a direction stop not a water stop things were pretty relaxed we guided the runners that came our way and met a few dogs as well.

Overall it was a great success so happy we got the chance to collaborate on this event for a 3rd time!
