Reading to Grade 4 Session 1 (9th Sep)
To get out reading buddies sessions going with Ms Stella’s class in grade 4, we met with her during break to discuss our schedules and pick a date for our first session. After picking the 9th of September, we visited thelibrary to decide on some possible books to read to the kids. As the grade 4’s have been learning about greek myths, we decided one a variety of greek myth books to read from and Tintin as well since some kids like space.
During the session, we split the Grade 4 class into 2 groups, one focused on Greek Mythology while the other did King Midas and one on a Mokey King. Both groups found that the kids were very engaged with the story by asking questions consistently and voicing their opinions. Greek myths seemed very fitting to the grade 4’s as they were also learning about them within their curriculum. Overall, everyone enjoyed the reading and are looking forward to the next session.

Learning Objectives:
LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I think we successfully demonstrated this LO as we planned and took initiative to organise this CAS project by ourselves as we set up sessions directly with Ms Stella.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
By working in a group, we were able to be more engaging with the Grade 4’s as we could provide theme with a variety of reading material and interact more closer as a smaller group.
