Having past experiences with Borderlands and them not being very positive, I had meager expectations for this trip. Also being the new kid, I had even lower expectations, but as the first day went by, I realized it was fun and genuinely enjoying myself. I think it being a short two-day trip also made it better, and the activities and the friends I made through the journey helped make it more enjoyable.
First day- It was a very tiring bus ride but the canyoning refreshed us, the challenging course challenged our patience and decision-making. We were all tired after lunch and ready to go to camp and have some sleep, but we had one last thing, the rafting, after a fun session of rafting down to the camp, we all took a shower and reflected on our day.
Second day- We woke up early in the morning did some yoga/ meditating, and started our long day of hiking to the Marval Canyon, the most challenging part of this canyon was avoiding leaches. As we proceeded through the day we came to the end of the canyon, the second most challenging part, the 10m jump. I was a bit scared, but we had no choice, The last time I did it during March it did not go well for me so this time I was especially cautious, but this time I jumped with confidence, and it went well, we ate lunch at the canyon, and headed back to camp where we reflected on our day again.
Third Day- We woke up in the morning did yoga again and went on a long hike to the cave with our hand-made origami, we had fun in the cave and saw a Sri Lankan green pit viper and a lizard. On our way back some of us hopped into the car with the guides, a very fun experience. We got back to the camp and ate, packed our bags, and headed back to Colombo, on the bus ride I was having major throwbacks to what my experience was in March and how much better it was this time.
Overall the trip was fun and a great bonding trip, this really helped me as a new student because I made new friends and also had a fun trip.
