Students will be working towards earning a place in a 30-swimmer team that will travel to the SAISA competition at the American International School of Chennai, India Nov 1-5. They will be expected to practice 3 times per week and work to improve their fitness, stroke technique, and race experience.
Until now we have been practicing 3 times a week with optional morning practice, and as a team, we have tried to make as much progress as possible. Personally compared to when I started I believe I’ve made a lot of progress compared to the beginning of the season, when my stamina and endurance were very low compared to now. Personally, It was a tough fight for the Saisa team. The day the team was announced was very joyful, but the practice became very hard after that. My goal for this SAISA is to score points and get to finals, and also support my team, and try to get some medals.
Saisa is two days away, it’s been a very long time coming, 2 months of practicing, all for these 3 days.
Saisa was entertaining. Our team went through many struggles especially because two days before the trip, half of our team got sick, and wasn’t performing at its optimal, this includes me. Half of us were coughing the whole trip, and this led to the team’s morale down. However, during the event, we kept our morals high and performed at our best. The whole trip to Chennai and the group dynamic itself was fun. I roomed with Yethmin a student in my grade, who is a friend of mine, personally, I would say we had fun together. The food at the hotel was very good especially the naan and the mutton. The 15-19 boys and I placed 4th in two of the relays. Personally, this trip was filled with memories, and new friendships, I enjoyed this trip very much and look forward to next year’s SAISA.
