Bamboo Composting at OSC

Over the course of the last few months in service we have been working hard designing, cutting wood and putting together our newest compost in the primary playground. This is our second compost we have made in this service year and the third is coming along over the next following service sessions. Our first compost is located behind the s-block near the previous installed compost which hasn’t been working as efficiently as needed. As of the DP2s graduating I was recently appointed as the third service leader so lots of new responsibility is coming my way. Finishing last service we finished putting together our compost for the primary to use and fill with leaves in order to break down for soil. Working together with my service we had cut all of the wood and used hammers on top of hard wood to get the sticks into the ground. We took time to measure and plan out how the compost would be put together to use the space affectively and create the wanted product as directed to. Our newest garden bed is now laying near the garden beds we also made for service and we plan to make 3 more between in order to grow more fresh produce for the school. As the school year is coming to an end we plan for now to get our last compost bin created made of the same design and material now to be put in the preschool playground.
