On the 11th of March, OSC hosted our annual “Home Run” (charity run). This year, the money raised from the run would be going towards two service groups: Care for Paws, a group that strives to solve the big stray dog issue in Sri Lanka, and Housing and Habitat. The entrance fee for the run was 1000 rupees and there were about 50 participants so quite a decent amount of money was raised. Out of all the student runners, I came first but out of everyone, I came 2nd, mostly due to the fact that I went the wrong way and ended up running extra. The total distance of the track was over 5k and with the extra amount went off the track for, I ended up running about 6k. I did this in 25 minutes which was quite a disappointing time for me but considering I was just recovering after being sick for 3 weeks it wasn’t too bad. It was a great experiment for some good causes and I’m very glad that I did it. Next year I will make sure to do it again with hopefully a much faster time.
