The DP Orientation trip was a chance for the class of 2024 (18 of us) to bond and get to know each other better as we would be together for the last two years of our high school. All of us would also be taking on the infamous Diploma program together where we would need to support one another to get through. Initially, we intended to leave earlier but due to bad weather conditions, we ended up leaving on the 28th of September which happened to be my birthday.
The trip was to a central highland province called Kitulgala where we, with help from the Borderlands company would experience days filled with outdoorsy activities and adventures in nature. Some of the activities we did include canyoning, white-water rafting, hiking, swimming, running, and more. We even did team-building exercises such as one where we had to scale this ladder-like structure in teams of two without being able to touch the sides (pictured in the last picture below). My favorite activity we partook in during this time would have to be white-water rafting in rapids so rough that we actually ended up tipping over into the gushing water. It was quite the experience and brought me closer to my classmates and teachers.
