I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old and my music teacher suggested that my parents enroll me for piano exams at the Trinity College of London to pursue the art of playing the piano and I have come a long way since then and I am currently in grade 7.
For grade 7 the candidates have to choose 3 contrasting exam pieces, 3 exercises and compulsory scales for the relevant grade along with aural tests and sight reading.
Piece 1- Minuet in D by Mozart
Piece 2-Etude in A minor by Schytte
Piece 3-Kinderstücke by Mendelssohn
Along with the practical exams I have been taking theory exams.I just finished the grade 7 theory exam in November. It is essential to learn the theory of all the notes, tempo, rhythm,Italian terms etc. to apply the theory practically.I only had one theory grade left to complete but I decided to stop after completing grade 7 as I will not have much time in the coming years with the increasing workload but the plan is to complete all the practical grades with the music diploma.
It is hard to balance my academics with music and other extra curricular activities because grade 7 music requires a lot of technical work but it has pushed me to manage my time well.
