With the start of Service, I chose to change my service from Gecko Net to Reef Keepers. The first reason for this switch was that I wanted to have a refresh and take a part in something which I wouldn’t normally do. Secondly, I felt that my contribution to Gecko Net wasn’t up to my expectation and at times felt bored and lazy. Therefore, I decided to switch services and am very happy with my decision. I was intrigued by the Reef Keepers service description and thought that joining the service would allow me to directly engage with an issue of global importance as well as improve my collaboration skills.
Over the past few weeks, we have had discussions over our plans and what actions we might want to do. Though this year we have made some changes that would be appropriate to the virtual nature of our meeting and the presence of DLP. As of now, we haven’t developed our actions to the point we can implement them but after December break we will be closer to doing so.
Right now, I am in the works of brainstorming Merchandise and other items to sell in Reef Keepers along with other members of the service. In Today’s meeting, we brainstormed and came to a consensus on some aspects like that we will do pre-orders on the Reef Keepers website and also what items we may possibly want to sell. We also worked on creating a survey that will be sent out to the OSC community on suggestions as to what to sell and the possible designs. I think this will be very useful for us since we would be able to focus on what people want and how they want it. Considering the fact that we don’t have excess resources and we must utilize them properly.
The learning outcome that I have demonstrated is LO1: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. This is seen through my collaboration with other members of reef keepers in order to effectively brainstorm ideas for our clothing line and other items we may sell to the OSC community
