Now that 2021 has arrived, I have spent the past 2 months of 2021 performing the same routine as last year. Doing DLP has now become a habit and life feels no different than it was before COVID in my opinion. I wake up 5 minutes before school, have breakfast, and then be going back into my room for the rest of the day. Online classes at this point have become less important as we have finished the syllabus for most of the classes and all we do is revise our look at past papers.

One highlight for this year was the mock exams that occurred 2 weeks ago. I felt unprepared and felt as if I was going to fail all my exams but after getting my results, I did better than I thought even though I started studying for it pretty late. I am happy that exams are now over and I can focus on studying and doing all the amazing coursework IB has to offer. Currently, I have to do my TOK Presentation, My Chemistry  and Physics IA along with 2 Economics IA.

However, all these assignments haven’t stopped me from pursuing activities that keep me healthy. I got to my home gym 3 times a week doing split workouts in the form of the legs, chest, and back once a week.

Service : Reef Keepers

Over the past few weeks, we have had discussions over our plans and what actions we might want to do. Though this year we have made some changes that would be appropriate to the virtual nature of our meeting and the presence of DLP. As of now, we haven’t developed our actions to the point we can implement them but after December break we will be closer to doing so.

Right now, I am in the works of brainstorming Merchandise and other items to sell in Reef Keepers along with other members of the service. In Today’s meeting, we brainstormed and came to a consensus on some aspects like that we will do pre-orders on the Reef Keepers website and also what items we may possibly want to sell. We also worked on creating a survey that will be sent out to the OSC community on suggestions as to what to sell and the possible designs. I think this will be very useful for us since we would be able to focus on what people want and how they want it. Considering the fact that we don’t have excess resources and we must utilize them properly.

Overall, my experience being in Reef Keepers was very fun and I gained a lot of knowledge on how to plan and work with my teammates to achieve a Goal. I really enjoyed the interactives activities that we did and our discussion on potential plans and how we can do them regarding the current circumstance. I will surely be able to use the skills of team working and planning in my future/

The learning outcome that I have demonstrated is LO1: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. This is seen through my collaboration with other members of reef keepers in order to effectively brainstorm ideas for our clothing line and other items we may sell to the OSC community

The Advocate:

The Advocate is trying to publish a new magazine for this semester. This has been particularly difficult as it requires collaboration from multiple people, and Seniors have submission deadlines for coursework which often collide with Advocate’s internal deadlines. Thus, I haven’t able to make as many contributions as I’d like. Nonetheless, I’ve still made contributions in the form of editing the Advocate website, making posters encouraging people to partake in the Advocate (which are often featured in the Daily Bulletin).
