This year, I’m excited to be joining Hope for Kids as a leader, ready to build on the incredible work we did last year and continue our vision for making a positive impact in the lives of children battling cancer. Reflecting on last year’s experiences, I can proudly say that we accomplished so much together, from spreading awareness during Breast and Childhood Cancer Awareness Months by wearing the respective colours and promoting the respective ribbons to organizing our successful yearly fundraiser, the cricket carnival, which brought the school community together for a cause. Our visits to the CCC House were deeply meaningful, as we not only spent time with the children but also made significant donations, including a new TV, toys, dry rations, towels, and blankets, funded by generous contributions from the school community.
We achieved many of the goals we set out for last year, including our ongoing efforts to raise awareness and support the children at the CCC House. The smiles on their faces when we visited, and the gratitude we felt when making donations, reaffirmed why this work is so important. We set out to create lasting memories for these kids and help alleviate some of their daily struggles, and I believe we did just that. Now, as a leader, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to continue that momentum. I’m ready to use the leadership skills I honed as a part of the yearbook team, skills in collaboration, time management, and creative problem-solving, to elevate our efforts this year. Our goals for the year remain focused on raising awareness, continuing our fundraising activities, and enhancing our outreach efforts through donations and visits. I also want to push our communication efforts to make sure every event, like our upcoming Cancer Awareness Days, is even more organized and inclusive than before.
While it’s exciting to step into this leadership role, it’s also bittersweet to say goodbye to our previous leaders, Pep and Chirath, as they graduated. They laid an amazing foundation for us, and Anneli, Avi, and I are determined to make them proud as we take the reins. Together, we aim to carry on their legacy and push Hope for Kids to new heights this year. I look forward to what we will accomplish, knowing that we have the passion and dedication to continue making a real difference in the lives of these brave children. As a group will make this another year of hope, support, and positive change!
