Biking.

Over the winter break I asked my father if I can get my bike switched and we went on a 15 minute walk to a bike repair shop. It was quite a frustrating process because I had fixed the tire, and the next day the same tired was out of air. So after 3 different visits to repair shop we found out that the tube inside the tire was punctured and we had to get a new one. However once my bike was fixed I was finally able to bike again.

I’m really glad I picked up on this hobby because as a child it was my favorite activity. It gives me some sort of peace when I bike and its a great activity for losing weight. Over the winter break my parents encouraged my to bike in the park that they go to for a walk. I actually was more motivated to start biking as my parents got up at 5 am and 5:30am they were out of the house on the way to the park. So I decided to join them and bike to the park and then around the park. It was about a 2 mile ride to the park and then I rode around the park itself 4 times or so. The interesting fact about Victoria park is that its the largest park in all of Colombo. I think think it might be around 2.5km-3km in distance. I then rode home completely exhausted however it was still quite an experience. Especially early in the morning since the roads were extremely empty and it was quite dark and silent out. It was honestly just an eye opening experience, and it’s a shame I can’t continue to do it on a regular basis, I hope to try and do it during the weekends or maybe during the next break we have.

Learning Outcomes Achieved:

LO1 – I worked on my physical and mental health by biking. Biking to me is therapeutic, especially during the early morning where the sun has yet to rise and the streets are empty and quiet. With the lights around the park, it was nice to feel the breeze hit my face even though I wore a mask, it was still quite a nice experience

LO2 – Although it is not much a of a challenge to bike itself, it is hard to make up the mind to actually do it as procrastination is something I personally suffer with. I find it hard for me to do what I wish like doing due to my lazy habits.

LO4 – Biking helps my mental and physical health, and that relates to me working on my personal fitness which is also one of my long term goals.
