SAISA Swimming 2019/2020

SAISA 2019/2020 3rd place overall and 15-19 champions 2 years in a row

The First day of SAISA. After the openining cermony

SAISA Swimming 2019 was a rollercoaster of a ride it highs and lows but at the end it was a success to say that least. I didnt perform as I expected to. Becuase this years the competition was crazy, compared to last year. the 6h place times this years would’ve placed 1st in last years compeition. I was shocked and scared at the same time when I saw the time sheets and I saw all the prelim times.  With that in mind this made us dig deeper and pushe harder as my Mums signature ” PUSH AANDDRUUUU” which has become some what of a inside joke in our team. We all dug deep in those 3 days . We gave it our all.

Over all we placed 3rd. The 10-12 Girl were age group champions and So were the 15-19 boys. It has become a must in my age group which ever one we have been, we have made it our goal win the age group and so far without fault we have done so. Winning ever since I was in grade 5 my first SAISA.

Me swimmimg the 200 IM race which I placed 7th. Cutting 4 seconds from my previous personal best. Photo Creds. Hana Hettiaratchi

I personally feel like I did better in races i didnt expect to. I had consistantly placed 7th place in all my events. It was the turnout that i wanted to, but I did improve and get multiple personal bests and made many finals in all my events. So im proud of what i have achieved. For next year my last year of course I want to make it my best so I am going to continue training on thursday or friday mornings so i can maintain my speed.

Our Nepal/ Sri Lanka Prom picture

And of course like any other SAISA the social aspect is amazing and at one point we made a giant Prom picture.

Jack, Karven Aidan and I had an amazing host this year, who was from Ethiopia, and the food they made was amazing, had so much textures and flavours in your mouth it was like a firework festival in your Mouth.

The Only downside to SAISA was I had to say bye to some friends i knew from the very first saisa I did and on the last day it was very emotional with hugs and happy and sad cries, getting pictures and more.  Over all the experience was on to never forget and I tell everyone every year oh this saisa was the best and cannot be topped but everytime it just gets better and better and I have no doubt that next will be better. And As it will be my last SAISA Swimming next year after competing in 8 saisas including next year it will be a very emotional one.

Karven, Jack, Aidan and I with our host and 2 of our very close friends we have known since i started SAISA in 5th grade.
