I recently took over as Service leader of Gecko Inc before that was my Brother Lukas and Tavin. They set a goal to give all the students and kids of that service swimsuits as most of the kids came in shorts or were borrowing swimsuits from our school. So my brother and Tavin decided to start a fundraiser to sell gecko branded towels to the school as ” SAISA” travel towels for swimming etc. which was a big hit and they sold out all the towels which gave them a lot of money to spend on the swimsuits.

However though due to the unfortunate events that occurred in April. Schools were forced to shut down and we were unable to gift the swimsuits to the kids. So this year unfortunate my brother and Tavin were unable to gift their swimsuits but we made sure that they had their recognition for what service they have done for Gecko inc and for the kids involved. In Honor of the graduates Lukas and Tavin.

Kids were so happy to receive the swimsuits and it gave me a warm feeling in my heart. The kids even asked if this was theirs to keep at the end of the swimming lesson and it shows how humble and deserving these kids are. Even after receiving a gift they still don’t believe it. It shows that instability in the world in this day and age and how giving back and trying to make someone else’s day is so much better than self-gain. The kids very hugging Jack, Marco and I and thanking me. It was a nice sight to see and I don’t plan to stop there.

I am currently planning with Jack and Marco the other 2 service leaders in my group on how to we can start a new fundraiser for getting the kids goggles as I believe this is the next step for them. We are currently deciding on whether to with the leftover money to start a new fundraiser where we can sell gecko branded socks to the community and with the money purchase goggles.

Or as the lady in charge of the group of students that come to our school told us that many of these kids are in heavy poverty and was wondering if we can start up a donation station or book drive so we that we can donate some necessities and some toys to these kids so that they can live a better life.
