Nuestro Planeta
Currently in our Spanish class, we are studying a unit called “El Medio Ambiente”, which means, “The Environment”. As a part of one of our assignments, we had to make a video discussing a few things we do at home to take care of our planet. This activity not only improves our Spanish vocabulary, but also gives us an appreciation and teaches us the importance of doing our part to help the environment. Here is the short video I made:
Learning Outcomes:
2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process – Speaking about the environment in Spanish is not something I’m used to, but this task encouraged me to experiment with new vocabulary and sentence structures in Spanish.
6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance – Talking about the environment and the threats that it’s facing is a clear demonstration with an issue of global significance. Climate change and the depletion of resources is a big problem today, and being aware of this and trying to make small changes in our daily lives is a really good way to do our part.
7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions – As I mentioned above, it’s important to make small changes in our lives in order to save the planet. Many species are in danger of extinction, and resources are running out fast. By choosing to do a few things (like those I mentioned in the video) that benefit the environment, we are reducing the danger and impacts of the problem.
